The spirit of co-operation and collaboration is pulsing strongly in the Waikato, with a wide range of projects involving councils, central Government, iwi, business, stakeholders and communities.
The Waikato Mayoral Forum – bringing together local and regional council leaders – has acted as an engine room for discussion and ideas.
Projects the forum’s discussions have helped spawn include the Waikato Means Business strategy, the soon-to-be-finalised Waikato Plan, rationalisation of policy and bylaws and an exciting new roading accord.
The councils’ jointly owned Waikato Local Authority Shared Services Ltd vehicle has helped make collective savings worth millions of dollars through collaborative arrangements.
Elsewhere on this site, you’ll find more information about these individual initiatives.
